Craig Marin's Gift To Mike

The famous puppeteer, Craig Marin,
(co-creator/designer/builder and performer of the Flexitoon Puppets)
saw Mike's toy find and offered this up in appreciation.Craig also made these cool puppets in honor of Mike's God, Soupy Sales.

And here're some of my toys:

Sorry fellas, I was asked to take the last pic down by the authorities!

I think the Fred Flintstone one was probably the best.

Those toys and puppets are awesome; especially the Woody and Soupy puppets, as well for the Tiki’s, they are pretty cool too. I have this old watering can that belonged to my grandmother, which has illustrations of Mickey watering the plants on one side, and pouring water on a sleeping Donald (who is wearing a red sailor suit). I’ll get my digital camera, and post the photos soon. And I don’t know much about Kali, but I have a feeling that she’ll kill you with that photo of her posted on this post. However, she isn’t bad looking, just to let ya know ;)

is that one of those silver American Apparel swimsuits that looks tacky in the ads, but sooo good on that fine lady?

see, this is why you can't get off topic too much on this blog. Drawings of girls is one thing, but us pent up cartoonists don't know what to do withourselves when flesh enters the equation.

toys are so cool. i mean, just think of the concept. an object that you play with for fun. Playing? Fun? Man, thats cool! its like the complete opposite of reality and stupid day jobs. unless of course you draw for a living....one day...!

This is why I want to see more George Liquor cartoons.

Do you ever invite your friends over to play with your toys? And if so, can I be your friend?

Thanks, Craig - always nice to meet someone else with a Soupy fetish. I don't remember seeing you at the meetings, though...

I LOVE Soupy puppet.
As for the rest of collection on display, especially the photo of la deux femmes au derriere* , I'll let Roy Batty have the final word.

john, you should do a POST about the music in the old cartoons, to recommend us musicians, etc.

I think the music on COAL BLACK AND THE SEVEN DWARFS is perfect for the cartoons. Is that Swing?.

I was checking Benny Goodman, Fletcher Henderson, Ted Heath, Cab Calloway, etc. They are incredible!

personally I like the rhythms as those on SING SING SING of Benny Goodman or China Boy from Benny Goodman too.

what would you recommend to us?

YOUR PAL, PAUL

And now the picture starts making the rounds as someone surely save-file-ased the thing.

Otherwise, fantastic post. those are some great looking old school toys. I really did the crazy looking Huck Hound.

I'll bet Kali and Marlo wish that they too had a gigantic bee abdomen like Pebbles Flintstone...

(Seriously, what the heck is going on with that Pebbles toy, John?!)

This is for Paul B. If you dig jazzy jive cartoon music, start with Louis Jordan.

K & M luckily have a good sense of humor. I'd hate to be reading about this whole blog's spectacular shutdown over an "incident of lewd commentary and violation of blah blah" in AWN.

That would seriously suck. Reading AWN, I mean. And losing the blog.

Well guys, you know how sensitive girls are about their butts-even when they are well formed!
