It's the big forehead big eyes baby action.

I always hated the Harvey eyes. Like twin exclamation points at opposing angles, they were. I never knew what the heck was going on in the comic because I could not get past obsessing over the damned eyes!

I first thought that Elmer would be pissed off by that- but...he always did have a thing for the tranny rabbit, so maybe he'd secretly take it as a compliment.

Preston Blair's "Animation" book has a page on how to draw "cute" characters. I think that's it— one page. I don't happen to own a copy, so I can't look it up.

Not that Blair needed to give the subject any more extensive treatment, since in the Tex Avery MGM cartoons that he worked on, cute characters mainly existed so that they could be blown to shreds with a ton of explosives, thrown off high cliffs, and flattened by steamrollers!

I knew about Mickey/Minnie and Donald/Daisy, but never noticed Wendy was Elmer in drag.

Oh, and the "Dell Guarantee" at the end of the Elmer Fudd strip, is now— slightly modified— part of Pilsner's Picks.

The only funny thing in this ineptly drawn comic page, but it was worth waiting for.

In the 1950's, every parent (who paid attention to the ranting politicians of the time) was alarmed about comic books. "If your kid reads them, he'll turn into a Commie!"

Maybe they had a point there. The late Harvey Kurtzman is still subversive.

But exactly what was he subverting? Existence, I think.

You may want to add the provision of not choosing the Wabbit Twouble Elmer, or even the Elmers Candid Camera type.

How cute a girl can you get using Egghead?

"Add hair and eyelashes to Elmer Fudd."

It worked for Bugs Bunny. In the immortal words of Admiral Ackbar, "It's a trap!"

The Dell comics Pledge to parents is inserted to cover up the horrific final panel, which shows Elmer savagely smashing the turtle with a hammer while exclaiming: "This wed sweater will weawy help weduce the bwood spwattewing evwewhere.Hhheehhhee."
